AIFM Directive. Investment managers are ignoring it
Investment managers are underestimating the risks posed this year by the forthcoming EU directive to clamp down on alternative funds, according to a consultancy. So only 3 per cent of managers believed efforts to implement the Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) directive would be a key risk for 2010, according to a survey by BDO’s head of funds Neil Fung-On.
The directive contains regulatory curbs like disclosure and liquidity requirements for alternative funds sold to European investors. It will become law in 2012.
