Credit Suisse is shutting its private banking office in Birmingham in the West Midlands area of the UK.
The Zurich-listed banking group confirmed it to some newspapers.
“Clients in the Birmingham region will continue to be served out of our London and Manchester offices,” a spokesperson for Credit Suisse said.
Birmingham, renowned as a centre of UK manufacturing, has had a private banking office since 2008.

30 years ago this summer, the privately owned fine wine merchant Goedhuis & Co was founded by charismatic business leader Johnny Goedhuis. It has been growing from strength to strength since 1981. The company now has offices in Central London, the regions and Hong Kong, the latter which opened in 2008 to service the growing market for fine wine in China. Goedhuis & Co can also boast a reported annual turnover of £22million this financial year, with development (particularly for the last twenty years) being led by the success of En Primeur vintages. Their turnover in their first year was close to half a million pounds and, after entering the fine wine market in 1994 and appointing Tom Stopford Sackville as a director, they went on to hit their first million in 1995 and their first 10 million pound turnover in 2007.

Federal officials are deciding to judge health insurance rate increases of 10% or more for excessiveness in seven states determined to have ineffective rate review processes. The Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight found rate review systems to be insufficient in Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Wyomingand four territories. Under final rate review regulations adopted under the authority of the Affordable Care Act, federal officials will conduct reviews “until those areas are able to strengthen their review processes and authorities,” CCIIO, a division of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, announced.
