W. R. Berkley's $110 Million Hybrid Bond Offering

Willkie client W. R. Berkley Corporation completed its offering of $110 million aggregate principal amount of 5.900% subordinated debentures due 2056.


W. R. Berkley intends to use the net proceeds from this offering for general corporate purposes. W. R. Berkley Corporation is an insurance holding company that is among the largest commercial lines writers in the United States. It operates in three segments of the property casualty insurance business: insurance-domestic, insurance-international and reinsurance-global. The company, led by William Robert Berkley, Lucille T Sgaglione, William Robert Berkley, Eugene George Ballard and Ira Seth Lederman, is based in Greenwich (CT). The deal was handled by partner Jeffrey Hochman (Picture) and associates Julian Golay, Virginie Sayag and Timothy Andree, with tax assistance from partner Henry Cohn and associate Meredith Levy.
