Holland & Knight won a $3.25 million jury verdict on behalf of client and plaintiff Quantum Capital against Banco de los Trabajadores de Guatemala (BANTRAB) on April 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The eight-person jury returned its verdict after a five-day trial and two hours of deliberations. The case involves claims for breach of oral and written contracts against BANTRAB stemming from financial advisory services rendered by Quantum. Quantum asserted its claims after BANTRAB refused to pay Quantum its success fees stemming from the closing of two transactions totaling $170 million, which BANTRAB used to expand its operation and growth. Quantum Capital is an independent SEC registered investment advisor founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1996.
