Northern Trust has nominated Wim van Ooijen as country head for The Netherlands, succeeding Eric Pouwels, who has been named director of strategic development for Europe, Middle East and Africa.Van Ooijen is responsible for all asset servicing business development, sales and client activities across The Netherlands and will also serve as the primary contact for the regulators.Van Ooijen, who joined Northern Trust in 2004, was previously head of Northern Trust’s Dutch relationship management team.
Northern Trust has been selected to provide global custody and investment accounting services for Western Provident Association, a private health insurer based in Somerset, UK. Northern Trust will service WPA’s Asian equities mandate. “We were looking for a global custodian that understood our requirements around investing in overseas markets and the team and expertise to work with our investment manager in Hong Kong,” says John Pugh, finance director at WPA. “It is important for us to have a dedicated relationship manager in London with local expertise but also knowing that our assets are being looked after in Asia. We feel Northern Trust will deliver on these two fronts.”
Northern Trust has nominated William Mak Singapore as country manager and head of South East Asia region. Mak comes to Northern Trust with more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry in Singapore, most recently as managing director for Bank of New York Mellon Asset Management in the region.As the senior executive responsible for the coordination of all business activities in the South East Asia region, Mak reports to Teresa A. Parker, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific region for Northern Trust, who is also based in Singapore.
Northern Trust Global Investments, the London-based subsidiary and multi-asset class investment management business of Northern Trust, has appointed John Krieg as managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. In this newly-created role, Krieg will lead the teams responsible for business development and client service, direct investment product management across NTGI’s investment solutions, equity index and fixed income product lines. “Since Northern Trust opened its investment management arm in London in 1996, our objective has been to deliver innovative products and tailored solutions that support our clients and their changing requirements,” says Wayne Bowers, chief executive of NTGI in EMEA and Asia Pacific. “In this new role, John will bring extensive experience in product development and client service to bear in creating solutions that will position us well for future growth in the EMEA marketplace.”
Northern Trust has nominated Penelope Biggs as head of its institutional investor group for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Biggs will lead client servicing and sales, consulting and marketing for the institutional investor group, which provides asset servicing solutions to institutional investors, such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and insurance companies. Biggs, who joined Northern Trust in 1996, was most recently head of business development, marketing, product and strategy for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business in EMEA. She also chairs Northern Trust’s retirement solutions practice, an advisory group dedicated to helping institutions navigate the complexities of the global retirement market.
Northern Trust, a provider of financial services for institutions and affluent individuals, has appointed Kurt Koehler as senior vice president and senior personal trust relationship manager. Koehler will be responsible for providing customised trust and estate planning services to the high net worth community.
Northern Trust has presented an investment fund platform that will include a series of collective funds sub-advised by investment managers retained and overseen by Northern Trust. The Northern Trust Company Sub-Advised Collective Funds Trust will give access to the US private and public retirement market.
Northern Trust has appointed David McPhillips as director of consultant relations for the corporate and institutional services business unit in North America. McPhillips will work together with client service, sales, product development and operations teams to direct the asset servicing unit’s interaction with North American consultants.
