Societe Generale Private Banking has named Olivier Gougeon as chief executive officer for South Asia. Based in Singapore, the regional hub of Societe Generale Private Banking (Asia Pacific), he replaces Pierre-F. Baer who will be taking up a new role within the Societe Generale Group. Gougeon becomes a member of the global and Asia Pacific executive committees of the private bank. Gougeon will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Singapore office and pursuing the growth strategy of the private bank in South Asia alongside Alex Fung, chief executive officer for Hong Kong and North Asia, and Patrick Dreyfuss, regional chief operating officer.
Societe Generale Private Banking has nominated Hsiao-Yun Lee as chief executive officer in China. Lee is responsible for promoting the private bank’s product and service offerings for high net worth clients in China, one of the fastest-growing wealth creation markets in the world. Lee has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry and was instrumental in setting up the Societe Generale Private Banking business in China.
Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has nominated Olivier Renault as Country Manager for Luxembourg, replacing Michel Becker. Renault will report to SGSS Executive Management and becomes a member of the Executive Committee of Societe Generale Bank and Trust (SGBT), in charge of Securities Services1. SGSS in Luxembourg offers its clients international custody, fund administration and fund distribution services, as well as securities lending and borrowing & independent OTC valuation services, an expertise which is increasingly sought after by asset managers in the current financial context. The firm also provides numerous advantages for French investors, enabling them to benefit from a single accounting and custody platform for both countries, alongside common developments and upgrades for interface entries and exits, as well as from comprehensive pricing mechanisms for funds domiciled in both countries. Hikaru Ogata, previously global head of fixed-income distribution at BNP Paribas, has been appointed as the new chief executive of Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) for the Asia-Pacific region. He will be based in Hong Kong and will report to SG CIB’s chief executive Michel Peretie. Ogata became head of fixed income for BNP Paribas in Tokyo in 2005 and general manager of BNP Paribas Securities’ Tokyo branch in December 2006, moving to Hong Kong in August 2009. BNP Paribas reshuffled its fixed-income team in May this year, naming new co-heads of fixed-income origination and distribution.
